Meet Daava Mills
Hi, I’m Daava Mills. I cut my teeth in the world of recruiting pretty much like anyone of Gen X, I fell into it. I wanted to learn sales, and I learned the sales from the standpoint of recruiting. Over the years, I discovered it was more rewarding to be an in house recruiter. I eventually moved into HR Management, then Operations Management. Through 20 plus years though, I never lost my passion for figuring out what makes people tick and how to have healthy companies.
I’ve learned a lot of lessons along the way, and hope that I can help you avoid some of the pitfalls and biases I’ve had to unlearn myself.
When I’m not at my desk talking to clients or networking with my business peeps, I’m a mom to a teen, a dance mom on weekends or any given weeknight, wrangling my household with two dogs and a rescue kitty, redoing something in an old 1930’s farmhouse, or writing and recording music with my partner.

About the Business
Float HR is the combination of my recruiting, HR and operations experience. It’s consulting, it’s on-demand HR help, it’s policy writing, recruiting, systems development, and it’s designed to make your work life a little easier. You might say I help companies lighten the load so they can float.
Why the upside-down umbrella?
One of my business besties likened me to a certain magical nanny who would float in and then float out when the job was complete. When designing a logo with this in mind, my designer friend came back with an upside-down umbrella. Upside-down umbrellas mean creativity, breaking from the norm, rebelliousness, and prosperity. The tilt of the umbrella is about approachability. Clients who work with me can expect to break the mold of how most HR people operate.
I’m committed to legal practices, ethical practices, and processes that are solid for your business, not the best practices that everyone else does. Let me help you set your business apart.
